It was an ordinary day in the drama club. Most of the acting team were present to debate their next project, while the lighting and effects teams hung out to contribute their own ideas. When it came time for everyone to have a break and a quick snack, Juno found herself torn between a rice ball or a jelly donut. Idly, she wagged her finger between them. "Eenie, meenie, minie, moe..."
"What was that, Juno?" asked Pina.
"Huh? What do you mean what was it?"
"That little song you were singing.” He smiled disarmingly, “It was cute!"
"Oh!" exclaimed Sheila, "it must be a carnivore thing."
Juno nodded. "Guess it would be kind of messed up if a herbivore said it." She turned to Pina. "It's a kind of counting song, for when you have to pick between two choices."
"So?" asked Pina, "How does it go?"
Juno and Sheila bobbed their heads from side to side and each waved a finger in the air. "Eenie, meenie, minie, moe
Catch a tiger by his toe
When he hollers, let him go
Eenie, meenie, minie moe"
Pina giggled demurely. "Well that certainly is strange! Why is wrestling a tiger supposed to help you make a choice?"
Juno shrugged. "It's just one of those weird sayings that kind of doesn't come from anywhere. Like, you're a sheep but you're not going to help me get to sleep, are you?"
Pina grinned. "On the contrary, I'll keep a girl up all night."
He received a donut to the face for his trouble, so at least Juno had been able to choose in the end.
